Explore design ideas for Modesto Park, Cottonwood Park, and more!

Draft Site Designs

Five sites along the Jordan River were selected for focused planning. These sites were selected by technical experts and the community as areas of high concern and high opportunity for positive change. See a sneak peak of the draft site plans below and join our open houses July 10th and 11th to give your input!

Rose Park Nature Area

This concept reflects ongoing discussion to transition the underutilized driving range at Rose Park Golf Course into a publicly accessible park and nature area. We will add a new gathering space and a nature playground. A large nature preserve will include scenic overlooks and educational signage.

Cottonwood Park

This concept will better connect Cottonwood Park and the river. Recreation amenities will be focused on the south end to create a welcoming “community porch”. The existing dirt parking lot off on Redwood Road will become a trailhead for the river, including artwork, signage, new restrooms, and a boat ramp.

Fairpark Urban Core

The Urban Core area will focus on providing safe and comfortable connections. This concept focuses on improvements and activation at the Fisher Mansion and the Gadsby Trailhead. These areas have the potential to become hubs for community events, water recreation, and nature education for the river.

Bend in the River & Modesto Park

This concept will remove safety concerns and add a new “community porch” for the neighborhood. The porch could include shaded seating, an open lawn, cooking areas, a nature playground, an outdoor classroom or amphitheater, fishing overlooks, and art. Enhanced pathways on both sides of the river and new access will ensure the park is connected and active.

Glendale Oxbow

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
